The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Economic Council under the President of the Russian Federation, Head of the Council "Center for Strategic Research" Kudrin Alexei.
In his speech Kudrin Alexei noted the special role of St. Petersburg as one of the central actors that ensures economic growth through private investment.
"St. Petersburg has very good potential. It will grow faster than the whole country. Therefore, in the modern world, with the introduction of new technologies, when the human potential, namely the scientific and innovative potential becomes decisive, such regions as Petersburg, which has traditions and modern developments, sets serious reserve for such rapid growth, " noted Alexei.
General Director of "BPK " Diana Kaledina spoke at the meeting of the presidiums of the Public Organization and the Regional Association of Employers "Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg" with a report about trends in the machine tool industry in Russia.
In her speech, Kaledina Diana described the experience and achievements of the "BPK" in the field of metalworking equipment, the tendencies of the world machine-tool industry, noted the main problems of the machine tool industry in the country and outlined the promising ways of development. "We understand that now Russia is in some technological vacuum, but if all the time is just catching up – it is impossible to create a competitive product on a global scale. Therefore, we invest a lot in fundamental research in the field of materials science, alternative methods of metal processing," emphasized Diana.
